Five drug suspects died while 41 others were arrested in separate drug stings carried by operatives of Quezon City police on Monday.

Anti-illegal drug operatives of Masambong Police Station (PS-2) conducted a buy-bust operation Monday midnight against Glen Pangan alias “Tikyo,” Alvin delos Santos, and Ding Manuguit, allegedly known drug pushers in Brgy Sto. Cristo, Bago Bantay.

Police had just concluded a P500 drug deal with Manuguit and Pangan when Delos Santos arrived and sensed they were transacting with police.

The suspects pulled out their respective firearms and engaged the cops in a shootout that led to their deaths.

Police confiscated from the suspects two improvised handguns and a .38-caliber revolver. The slain suspects also yielded 16 sachets of shabu.

Some 10 minutes later, Fairview cops killed Fernando Gunio alias “Fernan”, alleged notorious pusher, hold-upper and rapist on Diego Silang St. Brgy. Sta Lucia, in a gunfight right after a drug bust.

Gunio, who died on the spot, yielded a Magnum .357 revolver and five plastic sachets of shabu.

Members of Batasan Police Station (PS-6) raided a drug den in Barangay Old Balara around 3:30 p.m. where they killed Julius Vargas, 18, who fired shots at them while approaching the place.

Seized from the raided place were a .38-caliber revolver, various drug paraphernalia, and a sachet of shabu. (Vanne Elaine P. Terrazola)
