ZAMBOANGA CITY – A group of armed men ambushed a convoy of military vehicles in Marawi City at dawn Saturday, killing a soldier and wounding three others.
Armed Forces Western Mindanao Command spokesman Major Filemon Tan Jr. said about 10 armed men fired at a convoy of military vehicles in Barangay Buadi Sacayo at about 3:30 a.m.
The soldiers were on their way to the headquarters of the 103rd Brigade in Camp Major L Sang-an, Pulacan, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur when the attack took place.
Tan said the soldiers were on board a KM-450 truck and a Wheeled Armored Vehicle when they were fired upon by the armed men.
